In two separate interviews with Access Hollywood's Tony Potts, Halle Berry and Charlize Theron speak out on the reported insult attributed to Theron in The New Yorker about Berry’s post-Oscar role choices.

Charlize, who denies making the reported insult about Berry in the current issue of Entertainment Weekly, told Potts that she reached out to Halle prior to her interview with the magazine in an effort to clear things up with the “Monster's Ball” star personally, rather than having to publicly address the issue.

“I had in my own personal way tried to figure that out with her, and I didn't think it had to be dealt with in the press,” said Theron. “When it came up [during the recent Entertainment Weekly interview], I felt it was the right moment to straighten things out.”

While the “North Country” star also told Entertainment Weekly that she sent Berry flowers to apologize for the misunderstanding and relay that she wasn't guilty of making the insult, Berry told Potts that she has not received an apology. “No, I didn't get it,” she said. “I think things get twisted a lot, and I don't really put too much weight on what other people think about me anyway these days.”

Charlize told Tony that she is upset about the ordeal because her reported comment does not reflect her true opinion of Berry. “It hurt me only because I really have none of those feelings toward her,” she said. “I think she is wonderful and that's not my style, I don't think that is very classy.”

The “Monster” star added that she has since contacted the writer for The New Yorker that attributed the quote to her and demanded an apology.

“I've talked to him and he has apologized,” she said. “I think at the end of the day we have to take responsibility for ourselves and I felt that he didn't. If I said that [about Berry] I would own up to it and apologize, but I never did.”

When Potts apprised Berry of Theron's latest actions, the Oscar-winner replied, “Good for her, good for her.”
