Just two days after Charlie Sheen delivered what some PR-types might consider an ill-advised radio interview, the embattled “Two and a Half Men” star called in to “The Dan Patrick Show” once again to share his sometimes rambling thoughts, including advice for Lindsay Lohan.
During his Monday interview, Sheen blamed the-powers-that-be behind his hit show for its current “forced hiatus” and missed episodes. In his Wednesday follow-up, the actor joked that he didn’t remember the earlier interview — or at least it seemed like a joke. Regardless, this time, Sheen dropped the blame game and actually took some responsibility.
“People need to understand how supremely grateful I am that someone stepped in here — I don’t want to say who,” Sheen explained. “But you know, basically Viacom showed up at my house and said, ‘Dude, it’s getting really obvious and we’re really worried about you. We don’t give a rat’s ‘tooey about the show. We care about your health.’ So they just came in and they man-to-man said, ‘We have to shut it down.’ … And I’m supremely grateful.”
Despite the troubles in his very public private life, Sheen insists he never actually showed up for work drunk or high. Still, the star admits there were times when he was worse for wear from the night before.
“(I would ask them) to move my mark a little bit (on the set) so I could be close to a piece of furniture or a table … so I wouldn’t fall over,” Sheen said before having a laugh about his behavior. “That is an expert move of a seasoned professional. An amateur stays on his mark and then falls over during the run-through.”
As for his future on the show, the star said he’ll report for work March 1, and then it's back to business as usual for “Two and a Half Men.”
In true Sheen fashion, the actor closed his latest mini-tell-all with one big surprise — an unexpected bit of advice for troubled actress Lindsay Lohan.
“Work on your impulse control,” Sheen said from his been-there-done-that perspective. “Just try to think things through a little bit before you do them.”
