Being a fan favorite definitely has its perks when it comes to "The Voice." Team Adam's Kat Perkins was the benefactor of this week's Twitter save and avoided elimination. Not so lucky were the other two in the bottom three: best pals Tess Boyer (Team Shakira) and Bria Kelly (Team Usher).
But being voted off together helped take the sting out of the elimination.
"This has been the best experience of my life," Boyer told TODAY after the show. "I'm getting to go out with my best friend, and I literally had the time of my life."
Boyer told host Carson Daly after the show that she wasn't surprised to be in the bottom three.
"I didn't have my best performance (Monday) night," she admitted of her rendition of Paramore's "Ain't It Fun." "It was as good as I could've made it, but I feel like I wasn't fully myself during the song."
For Kelly, being ejected means she’s returning home to Virginia just in time to finish up her senior year of high school — and she’ll arrive in time to attend prom.
“I feel peaceful, good,” she told us. However, she’s not sure if she’s going to the big dance. “I don’t have time to buy stuff for that. And find a date? Actually, that might be easy after this,” she noted.
Kelly said she also had a premonition that she and Boyer would be voted off.
“You can’t really explain it,” she said. “It’s just something I felt. If Tess had gone home and I had stayed, or if I had gone home and she had stayed, I would have been a mess. We are best friends.”
Now, Kelly’s concern is for top eight finalist Christina Grimmie of Team Adam, whom she calls the “third Musketeer.”
“Both of her best friends are leaving,” Kelly lamented. “She’s not sure how she’s going to do it without us! It’s hard. I don’t like this show anymore. I’m kidding. I love the show. I’ve made such good friendships."
“I know it’s something we all signed up for, but it’s just hard when you have to say goodbye," she added.
“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays 8 p.m. on NBC.
