See, the actress wears a wig on the show, and as she showed TODAY's Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford Wednesday, her real haircut is short, almost pixie-like. "British actors wear wigs a lot," she defended when they asked about it. "I find it to be a nice ritual at the end of the day, take the wig off, clean the makeup off, go home, leave work behind me."
But the audience had their say, as Kotb and Gifford showed off the results of a survey put up on KLGandHoda.com, which asked whether they preferred the long or short look on the actress. At last check, long locks were winning.
"Are you serious?" she asked, surprised by the results.
Boone may have very practical reasons for keeping those locks short — she grew up in Florida, a state that is not always kind to long hair. But here's a surprise: She spent her formative years in a retirement community, which was the family business. "So I grew up with golf cart lanes, golf courses everywhere you can look," she grinned. "And a lot of wonderful family that's very supportive of me."
And being a Florida native taught her one other important life lesson: "Sunscreen, guys," she emphasized. "Sunscreen."
"The Blacklist" airs on NBC at 10 p.m. on Mondays.
