When Bill Hader woke up this morning, he knew he’d be stopping by TODAY to chat about his upcoming animated flick "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2," but little did he know he’d have to clear up the difference between Kristen Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris.
“I get them confused ALL the time,” KLG admitted.
“You are not the only person in America,” Hader said, trying to be diplomatic, though he quickly clarified: “No, I think you are the only person in America.”
Hader, along with NPH, Anna Faris and Andy Samberg, provides colorful voicing in the sequel to the 2009 animated hit. He brings back the role of Flint Lockwood, a whacky inventor on an island dominated by food animals that threaten to take over the world. Mmmm, stressful and delicious.
Hader also revealed that during the making of the film, he was outed as a hand-talker (one who uses his hands emphatically while speaking). He said his wild hand movements in the recording booth were reflected in Flint’s animation, which was a surprise to Hader, but not to his wife. "My wife was like, oh gosh, I have to deal with that all the time," he recounted.
Beloved by fans of Saturday Night Live, Hader finally hung up his James Carville costume after an 8-year run on the show and made way for a new crop of comics this year.
The funny man said he was looking forward to the season premiere — "Now I'm just like a fan," he said — even though he was warned by fellow SNL alum and Parks & Recreation star Amy Poehler that watching the first episode after you leave is, “like watching your own funeral.”
Now he must be really excited.
