After months of sweat and self-control, it all came down to single pound on Thursday’s "Biggest Loser" finale.
In order for contestant Toma Dobrosavljevic to beat his stiffest competition, Sonya Jones, the former soccer player had to lose more than 170 pounds. He lost 171, and he gained the title of The Biggest Loser (not to mention the $250,000 prize money).
"I think I’m still kind of in shock," Dobrosavljevic said during a visit to TODAY the morning after his win. "I think if you'd asked me six months ago if I'd even be on 'The Biggest Loser,' I would say, 'There's no way I'd make the show.' Now here I am today — I'm the Biggest Loser."
And he calls the road to that success "the most amazing experience" he's ever had.
The 33-year-old started the "Glory Days" season weighing in at 336 pounds. He ended at a fit and trim 165. But even though the competition is over, the personal challenge continues.
"My biggest problem has been maintaining," he said of his past struggles with his weight. "I've yo-yoed my whole life, so some of the things that I've learned at the ranch [are going to help] make sure that I maintain this for the rest of my life."
Of course, Dobrosavljevic's win wasn't the only highlight of the finale. Here are a few other big moments for "The Biggest Loser's" season ender:
The contestants looked smokin’ hot
Although only one person took home the grand prize, all of the contestants gained a new body and level of self-confidence, which was obvious as they strutted on stage before weighing in. Soccer player Blake Benge drew hoots and hollers from the crowd as she showed off her svelte body in a tight black dress. Former male model Matt Miller had the ladies in the audience swooning — hands off, ladies, he just got engaged!
“The changes I think happened on the inside … but man it’s good to celebrate the outside!” trainer Jen Widerstrom said during the show.
Daddy scored some diaper money
Jordan Alicandro nearly missed the birth of his son to be on "The Biggest Loser," but his sacrifice was worth it. Now down 143 pounds, Alicandro was named the at-home prize winner for losing the most weight of all the eliminated contestants. The new dad’s prize money — a cool $100,000 — can certainly buy a lot of diapers for the new baby.
Time to play the field?
Earlier in the season, runner-up Jones, a two-time All-American softball player, confessed that she was about to become a 40-year-old virgin. Prior to coming to the ranch, Jones had never been in a relationship. After seeing her incredible transformation, host Alison Sweeney declared that Jones’ love life “is going to be a whole new ballgame!”
Keepin' it off
In celebration of the show’s tenth year on the air, contestants from past seasons appeared on-camera to talk about how the show changed their lives. Season 12 contestant Vinny Hickerson announced that he’s now a competitive body builder, while season 14 star Lisa Rambo talked about how she’s managed to keep the weight off in the years since she appeared on the show.
Out of the spotlight, but not out of sight
While several former contestants took the spotlight to talk about their life after “Biggest Loser,” one special guest let a brief glimpse from the audience do the talking.
Last season’s winner Rachel Frederickson looked fantastic.
