She's got two Academy Awards, but Barbra Streisand has only performed once on the Oscar telecast. That'll change on Feb. 24, when she once again takes the stage to sing at the annual awards event, representatives from the Academy Awards said in a statement Wednesday.

Streisand sang "Evergreen," the love theme from "A Star is Born," on the March 28, 1977 Oscars and won a best original song award for that song later that evening. She also has a best actress Oscar for her performance in 1968's "Funny Girl," and a handful of other nominations: as a lead actress for 1973's "The Way We Were," as a producer for best picture nominee "The Prince of Tides" (1991) and as a co-writer on "I Finally Found Someone," from the 1996 film "The Mirror Has Two Faces."

She's not nominated this year, but there are two potential slots where her musical talents may be of best use: Either in a previously announced movie musical tribute or, more likely, as part of a tribute to the late songwriter Marvin Hamlisch, a frequent collaborator and three-time Oscar winner who was nominated with her for "I Finally Found Someone." Hamlisch died in 2012. No such tribute has been announced yet, however, and the Academy did not specify exactly how she would be participating, other than to say that she would sing.

"In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music," said show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, "how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand? We are honored that she has agreed to do a very special performance on this year's Oscars, her first time singing on the show in 36 years."
