Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are partners in life, and now they'll be working partners again. Universal Pictures announced Friday that the A-list acting couple will appear on the big screen together in "By the Sea," which Jolie will also write and direct.
The studio gave no details about the film's plot except to call it an "intimate, character-driven drama" with Jolie and Pitt as stars and producers.
“Angelina continues to showcase her extraordinary storytelling abilities in front of and behind the camera and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her on 'By the Sea,'” said Universal chair Donna Langley in a statement. “Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood’s brightest talents and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece.”
Jolie is currently finishing up "Unbroken," based on Laura Hillenbrand's bestselling book about war hero and Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, who died July 2 at age 97. "Unbroken" will open in theaters on Dec. 25.
“I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna and the entire Universal team as I finish 'Unbroken' and begin work on 'By The Sea,'" Jolie said in the statement. "They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker.”
Pitt and Jolie met on the set of their 2005 film, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," in which they played married assassins. At the time, Pitt was married to actress Jennifer Aniston.
