Just when 2016 seemed like it couldn't get more depressing, we have now witnessed the death of love.
Love as we know it appeared to flatline shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday when news broke that Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and is seeking custody of their six children.

The ultimate Hollywood power couple had been together for more than 10 years and married since 2014.
The announcement seemingly brought U.S. workplace productivity to a screeching halt and had the internet wondering if there was anything left to believe in anymore.

And with "Brangelina" on the outs, a new shorthand to describe the catastrophic event was emerging:
Of course, the split comes 11 years after Pitt divorced actress Jennifer Aniston after falling for Jolie on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."
