Andy Samberg is hilarious as Emmy host and ultimate TV binge watcher

TV has a lot of material, but its Emmy host this year clearly felt he wasn't fully prepared. So he took action.

Despite what a TV executive recently suggested, there is not "too much television" out there — and Andy Samberg has proved it.

The host of Sunday night's 2015 Emmys opened the program with a pretaped musical number in which he showed himself getting locked in a "viewing bunker" with all of the TV shows he apparently hasn't been watching ... and emerging a year later, bearded, wild-haired and wild-eyed to declare, "I watched every show!"

It was a funny, fast-paced way for Samberg to race around a sunny back lot and run through many of the year's big hits, from "Scandal" to "Mad Men" to, well, shows with less Emmy potential like "Castle," and hang out with many of those show's stars, most of whom commented on just how bad he smelled.

He also notably pointed out to us just how many shows with "Wives" in the titles are apparently on the air!

But that was just the start: Samberg, who got his big break on "Saturday Night Live" and now stars on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" next took the stage inside the Nokia Theater for a characteristically smart routine full of rapid-fire jokes that hit on TV and political topics like Kim Davis, Donald Trump and Bill Cosby.
