Anderson Cooper: I never wash my jeans

Anderson Cooper's mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, once had her own line of jeans, but her son is pretty casual about his own denims. Cooper revealed Thursday on his nationally syndicated show, "Anderson Live," that he wears the same jeans every day and rarely washes them.

"These are TV clothes, these are not my actual real clothes," Cooper said to "What Not to Wear" co-host Stacy London. "In my real life, I wear a T-shirt, grey or white, same pair of jeans. Literally, the same pair of jeans every day."

Cooper also revealed that he has an unusual way of cleaning the jeans on the rare occasion he decides they need it.

"So the times I've washed my jeans, maybe twice in six months," he said. "The times I've done it, I've worn them and walked into my shower with them and put some soap on them and then air-dried them. Isn't that how you're supposed to do it?"

Cooper also revealed that he buys his jeans at the New York store APC, which is where he was told by the clerk not to wash the pricey jeans often.

London weighed in that waiting six months to wash jeans was "a little long," but did say that to "maintain your denim, the integrity of your denim," jeans should be washed in cold water without soap and air-dried.

"I don't know what that means," Cooper confessed. "When did jeans have 'integrity'? I want jeans that stand for something!"
