A missing pup couldn't contain his excitement when he was reunited this month with his owner in an adorable video posted on YouTube.

Jasper, a whippet who was reported missing in September, is seen barking, wagging his tail and leaping into the arms of his owner, Michael Ford, in a YouTube video posted Monday.

The London Evening Standard reported that, before being rescued, Jasper was "said to have been seen looking malnourished and tied to a caravan," and believed to have been stolen. According to the newspaper, Ford said, “We honestly thought that we’d never see Jasper again.”

But thanks to the Heath Veterinary's Hurstpierpoint Clinic in West Essex, England — where a vet, on March 12, had discovered the microchip that identified Jasper and his owner — the old pals had their happy ending.

Someone from the clinic's staff uploaded the YouTube video, and noted in its description, "This is an amazing story which demonstrates the importance of microchipping your dog."
