'Star Wars' to Starbucks: Dogs flaunt creative costumes at Halloween parade

Dogs and a baby dressed as characters from "Star Wars" attend the 23rd Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade on October 26 in New York City.

A record number of decked out dogs and their creatively-inclined owners converged at New York City's Tompkins Square Park on Saturday for an afternoon of costume competition and gawking at the largest Halloween dog parade in the country.

As always, the attendees got imaginative. There were dogs channeling Miley Cyrus, Marilyn Monroe, "Star Wars" characters, and even Kim Jong Un (with an owner dressed like Dennis Rodman). Food seemed to be on everyone’s minds: A dog arrived suited up as a hot dog cart, and the grand prize went to two tiny pups in a “lobster bake” costume (cruel in theory maybe, but pretty darn adorable).

Today
This "lobster bake" costume won Best in Show. Just over 300 dogs entered the contest, and approximately 5,000 people showed up to watch.

Take a look at more great costumes from the 23rd annual dog parade:
