Gilberto Shedden discovered the American crocodile in a river suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and nursed him back to health. Pocho was the larger half of a double act with Sheddon that helped put the Caribbean town on the map, dazzling tourists and locals alike with an array of hair-raising tricks for eight years.

Shedden said the roughly 60-year-old croc will still be drawing visitors after his death -- his cadaver is to be embalmed and put on display in a museum.
