These adorable puffballs are being treated at Washington State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital after their nests were accidentally destroyed. The nine owlets are roughly one week old.
People rarely get to see baby great horned owls because their parents usually nest high up in the trees and are extremely protective of their young.
The babies may currently weigh less than an avocado, but they will one day be two feet tall and will possess talons that could cart off animals five times its weight.
