The feline that made headlines after going missing from his carrier at JFK airport in New York City passed away from malnutrition and severe wounds sustained during his time on the run.
“It is with tears that I must tell you that Jack has gone over the rainbow bridge,” explainedMary Beth Melchior, sister of owner Karen Pascoe, in a post on Jack the Cat’s official Facebook page.
The update on the social networking site went on to spotlight the “risks that attend putting an animal in cargo” and a vowed to “spur change” within the airline industry “so that no one else ever has to go through this again.”
