The fluffy white dog popped out of a tent as workers were cleaning the outdoor fields where the event is held and was quickly named after the iconic singer because "it characterized Dolly's beauty, love, peace and sweetness, just as she had shown fans a few days before," a rep for Parton said in a statement. The dog quickly became known as "Doggy Parton" or just plain "Dolly."

Parton mobilized her manager to get in touch with a local animal shelter to make sure the dog was taken care of. "At this time, nobody has claimed the dog and the dog is in great hands at the shelter," she said in a statement. "I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time."

In a video, Parton noted that she was sure the dog had another name, but was "honored and flattered" that the animal had been given her name for now.

The dog "is a sweet-natured older lady" who showed up with an ear infection, the Happy Landings animal shelter told the Guardian.

A spokesperson for the festival noted that pets were not allowed at Glastonbury.

This isn't the first time Parton's name has been given to an animal: The world's first successfully-cloned mammal, Dolly the sheep, was named in 1986 by scientists who were fans of the entertainer.

Parton is currently on the European leg of her "Blue Smoke — The Best Of" tour.
