Ever wish you could have a gigantic bird watching over your city like a friendly, feathery Godzilla? Well, Londoners may soon get that chance.
According to a press release from the Zoological Society of London, the London Zoo commissioned a production team to come up with ideas for redesigning 30 St Mary Axe, one of the city's most iconic skyscrapers, informally referred to as "the Gherkin." The purpose — to remind people not to miss visiting the zoo's penguins.
"We haven’t approached any city officials yet with regards to the plan, but we have had a brilliant positive response from Londoners!" Rebecca Smith, senior press officer for the zoo, told TODAY.com.
The prodigious penguin would definitely be hard to ignore and that's exactly what Emma Edwards, the zoo's Head of Communications, hopes.
“We don’t want anyone to miss our penguins, and they certainly wouldn’t be able to miss this one looming over the capital," Edwards said in the press release. “We know it’s audacious, but let’s be honest — penguins are a lot more interesting than gherkins!”
