    "I guess I am an animal welfare activist, though it has become so engrained in my life that I don't think of it in those terms anymore," she said.

    The idea came to Scott after reading an illustrated book to her 3-year-old daughter. The story was about a little boy that walks the moon and comes across many nocturnal animals.

    “There’s something very magical and mysterious about animals that only come out at night,” she said.

    “In thinking more about the concept, I realized that no one had ever done a photography book solely dedicated to nocturnal animals. So I did!”

    “I want to encourage folks to be more aware of light pollution, particularly if they live in a more rural setting,” she said.
