When the PTA asks, do you help or hide?

You know the drill every time it's the beginning of the school year:  Those well-meaning moms of the PTA come after you with this request or that. Can you be a room mom? Can you be a chaperone on the field trip? Can you be lunch room monitor? Can you make something for the bake sale?

Of course, it takes a village for a school community to run smoothly. But the bigger question is, do you have time to do your village duty?
