Seventh time's the charm! Shocked mom of 6 boys learns baby-to-be is ... a girl!

Learning your baby's sex has become an event all unto itself, with moms- and dads-to-be finding adorable ways to surprise loved ones with the happy news. But sometimes, the parents themselves want to be surprised — and their reactions can be just wonderful.

That's what happens in this video, which has amassed nearly 100,000 views on YouTube since it was posted Sunday. In it, Cher Lair, a pregnant mother of six boys saws into a very yummy-looking chocolate Oreo cake (with dad presumably lending a hand and hungry little ones looking on) to find out that No. 7 will be ...

A girl!

(The cake, which is half-chocolate and half-pink, tells all.)

It's enough to make Lair want to scream and collapse with joy, which is exactly what she does, falling back into the arms of relatives behind her.

She's not the only mom-to-be who's made an event out of sharing the gender of the child-to come.

TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas unveiled the gender of her baby on the show in March, opening a trunk to reveal a blue suit and balloons!

Some celebs like to share the news with the world by making announcements in magazines like People, as Josh and Anna Duggar did in March.

Cake (and cookies) seems to be the go-to-secret of choice for this new tradition, but balloons in a box come in a close second, like in a January video made by Rachelle Friedman Chapman, the bride-to-be who became paralyzed in 2010 after being pushed into a pool at her bachelorette party.

Piñata reveals are less common, but just as much fun.

Of course, parents can find out via ultrasound what their baby's gender will be, but the medical solution isn't always the most fun way to do it. After all, there's the "smelly socks" test (the more grossed out a mom is by certain smells, the more likely she is to be having boys, according to a study). Or, you could just go the "old wives' tales" route, like TODAY's Jenna Bush Hager did in 2013.

This time around, Hager won't need cake, boxes, piñatas or some other fun method to determine the gender of her new baby-to-be — on Monday she announced she was having a baby girl!
