Lucy Liu returns for her third round as one of the Furious Five good guys in "Kung Fu Panda 3," but this time, it held a deeper meaning because it was her first time reprising the role as a mother.

Liu, who plays Viper in each of the movies, said she grew up watching cartoons and animated Disney films and looks forward to eventually sharing that interest with her infant son, Rockwell.

“Even understanding what goes behind doing an animation, when you watch the movie, it’s still magical. It’s special. I feel really grateful that he’s going to have that,” she said Tuesday on TODAY.

“That’s going to be my legacy for him, ultimately, when he’s going to get older, and he’s able to watch them and enjoy them. I don’t even know if he’ll know it’s my voice necessarily, and hopefully he won’t. He’ll just kind of fall into it.”

Liu's son, Rockwell, was born in August and has turned into quite a chubster, as evidenced by photos his mother has shared on social media.

Liu said her son has “chunk-a-rolls — chunky bracelet rolls on his arms and legs — little croissant hands.”

Even though this is third time behind the microphone lending her voice for “Kung Fu Panda” series, Liu said it's still tough playing a character that is only heard but not seen.

“You do have to go in there and sort of give it your all, and you kind of feel ridiculous doing it, but you do it anyway,” she said.

Liu had tons of praise for the actor who plays the title character in the movie, co-star Jack Black, who voices Po.

“He’s just unbelievable in it," she said. "And I think that’s why kids love it so much."
