Little girl opts for hot dog costume on Princess Day. Frankly, it's awesome!

For princess week in dance class, one little girl was a great big wiener without ever putting on a tiara.

Traditionally, princesses are covered in tulle and tiaras. But some are covered in ketchup and mustard.

At least, that's what one little North Carolina girl proved when she showed up to princess week in dance class at Holly Springs School of Dance dressed as a hot dog — and totally grilled the competition.

Frankly, we're in awe of 5-year-old Ainsley, who wanted to wear her favorite costume for the special day and thanks to her (buns of) steely reserve, did just that.

Pictures of her in class with the other, frillier young ladies started popping up online in May, then started to go viral this weekend. (Comedy Central UK has even done a video of Disney scenes "inexorably improved by Hot Dog Princess.")

As teacher Sarah Nativi told BuzzFeed, "She loves princesses, but she wanted to be original and wear a hot dog costume instead," she said. "She wore a princess costume underneath it and said she was a princess on the inside!"

And her dad Brandon totally agrees:

Noted Nativi, "Her parents and I agree that it’s a great message for young girls and they are, as I can imagine, very proud of Ainsley."

Ainsley is relishing her moment in the spotlight, wearing her costume to the school's spring recital and posing with fans.

And as one internet user noted:

Exactly so. We will never be able to ketchup with Ainsley's outside-the-castle thinking, but we can one day hope we might cut the mustard, too.
