When it comes to communicating with her 18-month-old daughter, Lincoln, actress Kristen Bell says sign language has been a help.

"[She can say] a lot of two-syllable words, but she signs mostly because she’s really good at it," Bell told People magazine at an event last week hosted by her company, This Bar Saves Lives.

"People recommend doing signs because the baby can communicate with you and say, ‘I want an apple’ or ‘Look at the black dog,’ and you can actually form sentences," Bell said.

Lincoln is the first child for Bell, 34, and her husband, actor Dax Shepard, 39. The couple is now preparing to welcome baby number two, and Bell revealed to Us Weekly just what she's craving this time around.

"I just like food. If it can be digested, chances are I'll want it," Bell told Us at the same event. "Pretty much what I normally eat, which is fairly healthy, but I give in a lot more to cravings. It occurs to me more often how delicious Kettle chips are when I'm pregnant. I give into my cravings more often because if I'm not going to do it now, when will I do it?"

She also said Lincoln is a help, in her own way, when it comes to making sure mommy stays in shape.

"I've been more active this pregnancy, I think, because I chase around a toddler."
