TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie phoned it in Monday, but no one is complaining! To help her colleagues start their week off with the ultimate uplift, she joined the show by phone just days after giving birth to her second child.

“You’re so lucky you guys get to sleep in 'till 3 am every day,” she joked while checking in with her TODAY family.

Savannah and her husband, Mike Feldman, welcomed their son, Charles Max Feldman, last Thursday. "Charley" made his first television appearance the following morning. He also received a visit from Vale, his 2-year-old big sister.

"He is just adorable. He’s so cute. Everything’s working. He’s happy and Vale loves him, which was a big relief,” Savannah said, before the show aired a sweet video clip of her daughter showing some affection to a sleeping Charley.

“I love you, baby brother,” Vale whispers before she bestows an adorable kiss on him.

Vale had no problem welcoming her newest family addition in part because of an idea Savannah got from fellow mother-of-two, Jenna Bush Hager, who suggested putting a picture of Vale in Charley’s hospital bassinet before their first meeting.

“Charlie was in his bassinet when she walked in and then I put a lollipop in the bassinet,” she said. “So Vale went, ‘Oh baby brother — OH lollipop!’”

Savannah revealed that her husband, Mike, also is doing well.

“He already was super daddy, but now he’s super-SUPER daddy. He and Vale are so tight. It’s just so lovely and beautiful,” she said. “We just feel so thankful.”

The arrival of her second child reminded Savannah of a story from her childhood. She had asked her mother why she stopped having children after Savannah was born.

“And she said, ‘because I just knew my family was complete,’ and I feel that way, I feel like, my family is complete and we’re so happy,” Savannah said.
