Move over Babymoon, the new, new thing is Maternity Tourism. Authorities in California recently shut down a maternity center designed for Chinese mothers who paid thousands of dollars to travel to the United States to give birth so their children would have automatic citizenship. The center was shut down because the buildings had structural problems, not due to any illegality with the program. While it's not uncommon for women to come to the country to give birth, it is unusual to have the process facilitated through an organized business.
