It’s every parent’s nightmare. Your child swallows a component from a toy and the next thing you know, you’re off to the emergency room. It’s an all too viable scenario, given toddlers’ propensity for putting things in their mouths. Today, news broke that family restaurant chain Chuck E. Cheese is recalling 1.2 million light-up rings and toy eyeglasses over concerns of the small batteries on the inside of the rings being too easily accessible to small children. Fortunately, there has yet to be any report of injuries linked to this toy, but the situation does beg a larger question. Do you think chains of this sort are offering too many potentially hazardous toys to children? Should franchises like Chuck E. Cheese and McDonald's be offering toys to begin with?
