You know when you have the perfect baby name picked out, and then someone you know takes the name and it’s kind of ruined? But then you can’t let go of how much you love the name so you decide to just use it anyway because it’s not like you see each other all the time?
Well, that’s happening in Hollywood with the name Camden. The Scottish name, which calls to mind the hip neighborhood and market in London, was first used by Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler, who chose it for their son in August 2012. Then Nick and Vanessa Lachey chose it for their little boy, born the following month (this is made slightly more awkward by the fact that Nick and Kristin reportedly once dated). In the latest spike of the name’s popularity, actor Johnathon Schaech chose it for his baby with wife Julie Solomon, born last month.
This baby name’s popularity isn’t just among the celebrity set, though—Camden has been steadily gaining popularity, up from the 285th most popular name in 2002 to 156th in 2012, according to the Social Security Administration. With star power from these three celeb couples, we’re thinking it will rank even higher on the list this year.
