Remember the first day of school? That annual ritual of painstakingly laying out your outfit the night before and then barely being able to fall asleep all night before the alarm blasted you awake?

No matter how long it's been since you set foot in a classroom, the words "back to school" can still bring a flood of emotions — anxiety, excitement, anticipation, and even sadness over the end of summer. I don't know about you, but 25 years after my first day of kindergarten, I still get excited about picking out school supplies.

So with back-to-school season in full swing, we went to the experts — a group of adorable children — to get their advice on age-old questions like how to make a new friend and how to calm first-day jitters.

No matter what age you are, we can all take a tip or two from these kids.

A big thank-you to Meetup and the NYC Dads Group for their help in putting this together! Follow TODAY editor Meena Hart Duerson on Twitter here.
