Inspirational surfer Bethany Hamilton and her husband are "super stoked" that their first child, a baby boy, will be born in June.

Hamilton, 25, whose story of perseverance after losing an arm in a shark attack inspired the 2011 movie "Soul Surfer," announced she has "a baby on board" with husband Adam Dirks in a YouTube video and Instagram post on Sunday.

"I'm about 22 weeks, which is about halfway there," Hamilton said in the video. "It's been a pretty crazy last four months finding out that we're gonna be parents. Life's kinda gonna be changing and [we're] kinda just starting to prep for bringing a new little being into the world. It's all really exciting, though."

"We're super stoked about this new adventure and stepping into parenting,'' Dirks added.

Hamilton was 13 years old when her left arm was severed in an attack by a tiger shark when she was surfing in the North Shore in Kauai, Hawaii. One year later, she was back to competing in surfing competitions and turned professional in 2007.

In the video, she also spoke about having one arm and taking care of a baby.

"When I think about it, a squirmy baby, and changing the diaper...could be really challenging, but I think how I live life now I just adapt and adjust to different things,'' she said. "I think that there's going to be things that will be very challenging with one arm, but I'll just have to find my own way to take care of the baby."
