Ethan Hawke swung by TODAY Friday to chat about his role in "Macbeth" on Broadway. Here's what we learned in the Orange Room:

Jimmy Stewart beats Chevy Chase at Christmas: "Between the two TODAY finalists, I would have to take 'It's a Wonderful life.' As good as 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' is, and it is extremely funny, I actually like the first 'Vacation' movie the best. I have to go with Jimmy Stewart. The angel getting it's wings, I mean, come on."

He searches for info on Peyton Manning's health multiple times a week: "You know, it's probably pathetic but ever since Jim Irsay (Indianapolis Colts owner) treated him like an orphaned dog, I've started rooting for Peyton Manning and I've just become the biggest fan. It started because I'm an Eli Manning fan and when Peyton got hurt, I read some stories about the two of them that were interesting. These guys who own these teams make me sick to my stomach. If Peyton Manning hasn't earned loyalty, I can't imagine who has and so what does that mean for the rest of us?"

His kids have been the highlight of his 2013: "For me, professionally, doing 'Macbeth' on Broadway with one of my favorite directors has been one of the events of my life. But you know, I have four kids and watching them grow up has been the event of every year. One of my oldest daughters is 15, and it's really exciting to watch her become an adult. It's been one of the best things of my life."

He wants to act in every type of movie: "I've always been interested in genre movies and I really want to make a western. I started when I was 13, so I kind of like playing around with movies. I have this kind of fantasy where sometimes I imagine my obituary and I want to make sure it has one of every kind of movie."
