With a simple piece of paper and a $10 bill, a retired Marine let a disabled Vietnam veteran know that his sacrifice is appreciated with a nice surprise.
A U.S. Army veteran from Katy, Texas, who remains unidentified, posted a photo on Reddit of a note and a crinkled bill left on his windshield that made his day earlier this month.
"Lunch is on me, soldier!" the note read. "Thank you for your dedicated service."

The note was signed by "a retired Marine chopper pilot - Semper Fi."
The Army veteran, who has license plates on his car denoting his service, found the note under his windshield wiper blades. His picture has since been shared thousands of times on Facebook. "We owe so much to our military," wrote one commenter. TODAY reached out to the veteran for additional comment, but didn't hear back.

"I guess my Purple Heart plates gave it away,'' he wrote on Reddit. "Thanks for lunch, wherever you are."
