1. Ten years after a brutal nine-month kidnapping ordeal, Elizabeth Smart joined NBC special correspondent Meredith Vieira to revisit the chilling scene where she was held captive.

“There was a point that I stopped crying,’’ Smart says in a Meredith Vieira Special that will air at 10 p.m. EST Friday on NBC. “It’s not just because I didn’t feel pain any more, not because I didn’t feel sorrow. It was just to keep going. I mean, it just was to survive, to live.”

2. One good turn deserves another: A homeless man who became a hero in his hometown of Boston after turning in a backpack full of $40,000 is benefiting from another good deed, one that he inspired.

“I noticed a lot of hundred-dollar bills, and I said ‘Oh my goodness, this has to get back to its rightful owner,’” Glen James recalled to NBC’s Kerry Sanders.

Now, an online campaign has raised more than $148,000 to repay James for his kindness!

3. A dream come true? Spanx is now fused together with jeans!

TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas takes a look at the shapewear's hotly anticipated skinny jeans, as well as some other slimming denim for fall:

4. One man turned his girlfriend’s Pinterest dreams into reality.

Amanda Roman wasn't yet engaged when she created a page full of wedding ideas, but it turned out that her boyfriend was secretly paying as much attention to Pinterest as she was — and even created a surprise wedding for her based on her pins.
