With the news earlier this year that Faith Hill would be stepping down as the singer of the "Sunday Night Football" open, NBC opened the doors to some of its own talent to take over the country star's spot — at least in a new promo for the upcoming season.

Among those taking part in the promo's parody audition are TODAY's Matt, Savannah, Al and Natalie. The highlight? The quartet put the finishing touches on the closing high-note of the football-themed version of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You," which has been the opening theme for SNF since 2007.

Other members of the NBC family making an appearance in the promo include "America's Got Talent" judges Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, "Community" stars Ken Jeong and Yvette Nicole Brown, "Fashion Police" hosts Melissa and Joan Rivers, and "Morning Joe" anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.

But it was all in fun. In reality, NBC decided to leave the theme in the hands of a pro: Country star and six-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood will take over the opening for Hill this fall.
