Simon Cowell: I won't watch my baby's birth

It's a modern era where dads are usually right there in the delivery room as their children are born, but perhaps "X Factor" judge Simon Cowell isn't a modern man.

"Are you out of your mind?" Cowell said Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest's Los Angeles radio show. "I know this sounds awful, but it's like you don't want to go in to the restaurant while they're making your dinner. I think there are certain things you shouldn't see and that is one of them."

Cowell did admit that he would be "very close by" when girlfriend Lauren Silverman gives birth in February.

Silverman was still married to Cowell's friend, Andrew Silverman, with whom she has a son, when she and Cowell became involved. The Silvermans' divorce became final in August.

He'll definitely be a part of his child's life, Cowell told Seacrest. He wouldn't confirm that the two will wed, but his words could be interpreted that way. "'I wouldn't expect Lauren to be a single mother," he said.

He also said the baby will be born in either London or New York. Us Weekly has reported that Silverman is expecting a boy, but Cowell did not confirm that. And whichever city becomes the young Cowell's birthplace, Dad wants to have an influence on the way he or she speaks."What if I just play me on tape while the baby is sleeping so the baby can hear me and have a British accent?" Cowell joked. "And his first words will be, 'You're absolutely useless!'"
