In a statement on Rick Santorum’s Facebook page last night, the campaign announced a new soundtrack.
“Remember Who We Are,” by Nashville artist Krista Branch, has been chosen as one of the campaign's theme songs. As TODAY.com reported last week, Santorum had been without an official tune, though a couple of home-schooled sisters from Oklahoma did try for the honor.
Rick Santorum said of his song choice, “Our campaign has focused on returning to a government that believes in the American people again, and few songs express the beauty and strength of who we are as free Americans better than Krista’s. ‘It’s our time,’ as the song says — our time to take a firm, unwavering stand against big government; and it is our time to take our country back.”
Branch told TODAY.com that her husband Mike, a pastor and songwriter, penned the tune to “remind us of who Americans are in the wake of the most trying of times. We get knocked down and we get back up, we come together and we overcome whatever obstacles are put before us. Our country is facing very tough circumstances and there are many hurting people out there. We pray this song will bring hope and encouragement as we all work to be the best we can be.”
Branch, a “devoted wife, mother, patriot and a woman of deep faith,” told TODAY.com, “We are honored that Senator Santorum sees the message of hope in the simple words of this song. He shares our belief that we can once again become a shining city on a hill, an example of strength and love for so many who have lost their way.”
This isn’t the first time Branch has been in the GOP spotlight. In October, her song “I Am America” was used by the Herman Cain campaign.
