Ryan Gosling to the rescue! Just when we thought it wasn't possible to love him any more, he goes and does this.

Manhattan's hunkiest new resident was caught on camera helping to break up a scuffle on the streets of NYC.

Two men were grappling over a painting in the middle of an intersection by St. Marks' Place in the East Village as passersby looked on.

A few brave bystanders tried to run interference, but check out how Ryan jumps right in and takes control.

Ryan quickly runs over and gets in between the two men while flexing his incredibly buff biceps in a tank.

Listen for the collective squeals of the pedestrians who quickly realize the impressively muscled Good Samaritan is actually "the guy from the movie ... 'The Notebook'"!

His rep hasn't responded to request for comment yet, but we're beyond impressed ... and considering staging a street fight ourselves just so Ryan will get physical with us, too. Sigh.
