Razzie nominations put Adam Sandler, 'Grown Ups 2' first among worst
It looks like Adam Sandler's trophy shelf is going to get a lot more crowded. The actor's film "Grown Ups 2" scored a leading eight nominations Wednesday for the 34th Golden Raspberry Awards "honoring" the worst movies and performances of 2013.
Sandler is going for his third straight worst actor Razzie. He won for "That's My Boy" in 2012, and in 2011 he took the actor and actress prizes for "Jack and Jill," which won 10 awards that year. "Grown Ups 2" secured nods for worst picture, sequel, ensemble, screenplay, supporting actor (Taylor Lautner), supporting actress (Salma Hayek) and director (Dennis Dugan).
The other worst picture nominees are Will and Jaden Smith's "After Earth"; Tyler Perry's "A Madea Christmas"; Johnny Depp's "The Lone Ranger"; and "Movie 43."
Critical darlings Depp and Naomi Watts each earned their first attention from the Razzies. Depp, as Tonto in "The Lone Ranger," and Watts, as Princess Di in "Diana," earned worst actor and actress nods. It was not, however, the first time for Lindsay Lohan. The actress earned nominations for worst actress ("The Canyons"), worst supporting actress ("Inappropriate Comedy" and "Scary Movie 5") and worst screen combo (with Charlie Sheen in "Scary Movie 5").
The Razzie nominations come a day before Hollywood announces its Academy Award nominees, and the actual awards presentation will be a day before the Oscars, March 1.
