Monaco’s Prince Albert II and his wife, Princess Charlene, are expecting their first child, the nation’s palace announced Friday through a brief statement.
“Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco have the immense joy of announcing they are expecting a happy event. The baby is due at the end of the year,” according to the statement.
Albert, 56, is the son of Prince Rainier and the late Princess Grace. Charlene is a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa. They couple married in 2011.
Albert has two other children from previous relationships.
