 On Tuesday:

  • Will and Kate will pay their respects at the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum. “There really is such a deep connection between the people of the United Kingdom and the United States and this visit reflects that to a tremendous degree,” the museum’s president, Joe Daniels, told TODAY.
  • The couple will conclude their trip attending a fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The evening will raise scholarship money for the University of St. Andrews, the Scottish institution where William and Kate first met. Prince William is expected to speak at the event, along with actor Tom Hanks, whose daughter attended the school.

The whirlwind trip will be the royal couple’s second trip across the pond. They last paid a visit to the States in 2011 during a trip to Los Angeles.

Unlike their joint trip earlier this year to Australia and New Zealand, the duke and duchess will not be traveling with their son, 1-year-old Prince George. The couple are expecting a second child next spring.
