Revealing his joy at being a first-time uncle, Prince Harry proudly described seeing his nephew smile for the first time minutes before he met with a crowd of children Wednesday at a charity event.

“I've just literally seen him,” he said during a London awards ceremony for WellChild, an organization that helps severely ill children and for which Harry is a patron. "It was the first time I've seen him smile."

One of the award recipients, 9-year-old Nikki Christou, eagerly brought up the topic of the royal newborn, Prince George, when she met Harry before the ceremony. Nikki said she shares the same July 22 birthday as the baby, who has the same name as her father, George, and whose middle name, Alexander, is the same as her brother's first name.

Harry found the coincidence “very, very weird,” said Nikki, who suffers from an incurable malformation in her face that affects her nose, cheekbone and right eye. She told Britain’s Press Association that she found Prince Harry “really nice.”

Another award recipient, 6-year-old Madison Kirk, asked Harry what it was like to be prince. He laughed and replied: “Good and bad.”

Madison’s mother, Mary, said Prince Harry talked up the royal baby during their meeting.

“He said it was lovely having a new nephew. He said it was fantastic,” she said.
