As far as fantasies go, this one falls on the tame side.

President Obama revealed in an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 his deep desire to don a disguise and mingle among the masses.

“Sometimes I have this fantasy that I can put on a disguise, you know, wear a fake mustache, and I can wander through Tel Aviv and go to a bar and have a conversation, or go down to a university and meet with some students in a setting where it wasn't as formal,” Obama said in the interview, which aired Thursday.

"We're going to try to find as many opportunities as I can to interact directly with the Israeli people, but you've tapped into something that chafes at me," he told the interviewer. "It's the toughest thing about being president."

The president last visited Israel when he was a U.S. Senator from Illinois. It was a time when he could experience more “spontaneous interactions” during his travels.

“You know, I'd love to sit at a cafe and just hang out,” he told the Israeli news station. “The last time I was there as a senator, I still had the option of wandering through the Old City in Jerusalem. That option, I think, becomes a lot trickier once you're actually president.”

Obama is scheduled to leave Tuesday for his first trip to Israel since becoming president.
