It was definitely more filling than a bag of peanuts.

Passengers stuck on the runway for hours Tuesday after bad weather stranded their Atlanta-bound flight in Tennessee got an unexpected surprise after their pilot ordered pizza for the entire plane.

A baggage cart packed with Pizza Hut boxes drove up to the jet, where flight attendants helped hand out slices to passengers.

The Delta flight had circled for some time before storms forced a landing in Knoxville for an unscheduled layover that lasted more than two hours.

"What makes a few hour delay of your night flight better? Free pizza!" wrote Jill Hohnecker, who posted a picture of her dinner.

The plane eventually made its way to Atlanta after waiting in Tennessee for three hours.

Other Delta flights from Ohio, Illinois and Mississippi experiencing delays also got special pizza deliveries to their plane, according to passenger tweets.
