The first official painted portrait of Duchess Kate, commissioned by Britain's National Portrait Gallery? The painting was revealed Friday. Kate said it's "absolutely brilliant."
The artist, Scottish-born Paul Emsley, said "the Duchess explained that she would like to be portrayed naturally — her natural self — as opposed to her official self," according to the Prince of Wales' website. "She struck me as enormously open and generous and a very warm person. After initially feeling it was going to be an unsmiling portrait I think it was the right choice in the end to have her smiling — that is really who she is."
What do you think? Does the artwork do the pretty duchess justice?More: Queen: If Will and Kate have a girl, she'll be a princess
