Many Facebook users share their birthdays on the social network, which results in their getting lots of nice greetings on their special day. Now, users can also share happy events like engagements or weddings.
"Facebook has become a unique way people share and congratulate friends around exciting life events such as engagements and weddings or the arrival of a child," a spokesperson said in a statement to TODAY.com on Thursday.
"To make it easier to keep up with these momentous occasions and to ensure you can share in your friends' joy, we are rolling out a 'Weddings and Celebrations' feature. Beginning today, special events starting with engagements and weddings will be displayed along with friends' birthdays when you log into Facebook."
All you have to do to find those is look in the same place you already do to see friends' birthdays, in the upper right-hand corner of your Facebook home page:
If you decide to click on the happy news, a window appears, just as it does when you make a happy birthday wish, and you can write on your friend's Timeline or send them a message.
It's a nice addition to Facebook — although it offers one more blow to the greeting card industry that's getting eclipsed by more and more personal greetings being handled within the confines of the social network.
