A British military dad shipped home early from a deployment made sure he was perfectly packaged to deliver a Christmas surprise to his kids.
Ruth Stevens, 30, helped her husband Scott, 31, a member of the Royal Navy, give their son and daughter an early present Dec. 7 when they told the kids that "Elf" had a special present for them. Tentative at first, the kids started tearing away at the wrapping paper to receive the best gift of all, which Ruth posted on Facebook. TODAY reached out for comment multiple times but didn't hear back.

The family from Plymouth, England, was reunited ahead of the holiday thanks to Scott's return from a three-month deployment, according to The Herald in Plymouth.
"You didn't expect that one, did you?" Scott says after the kids celebrate the surprise.
