Matt completed his Tour de Red Nose Thursday morning — biking over the Queensboro Bridge and arriving on the TODAY plaza to a cheering crowd.

"I've had more peanut butter and jellies in the past week than I have in my whole life," he joked. The anchor traversed hilly terrain in rain, wind and occasional sunshine before arriving on the plaza.

And while the ride was a challenging one, knowing it was for a good cause made it worth it. Matt rode the route to raise money for Red Nose Day and children living in poverty at home and abroad.

Seeing the New York skyline was something he said he'd looked forward to since leaving from Boston's Fenway Park Sunday morning.

But before he could conquer the last couple of blocks, Matt got a surprise visitor: Katie Couric!

He nearly lost it when his former co-anchor strolled up in a nurse's outfit, offering some well-deserved comforts — including a donut cushion.

"I'm very proud of you for doing this and I know you might be a little sore," Katie said with a smirk. "Since this is my specialty, I brought some things to help you out."

And be sure to tune into Red Nose Day's inaugural three-hour event on NBC Thursday night.
