The man who harmed himself with a knife on Rockefeller Plaza Thursday remains under medical care Friday at a New York hospital.
A morning earlier, authorities took Pak Chong Mar into custody after hurting himself in front of a group of Plaza visitors. No one else was injured.
Pak’s daughter said her father has a history of similar stress-induced outbursts, Natalie Morales reported on TODAY Friday.
NBC released a statement after the incident describing “strict security protocols” in place to protect TODAY Show visitors.
“Those procedures were followed and effective,” the statement said.
