Life well lived: Refugee savior, pioneering reporter Ruth Gruber dies at 105

Ruth Gruber, known as “Mother Ruth” to some of the nearly 1,000 Jewish refugees she helped save in 1944, died this week at the age of 105. As a journalist, she covered the rise of Hitler as well as the infamous ship of Holocaust survivors turned away by the British from Palestine.
