Having Lady Antebellum on TODAY is always a treat; having the country music superstar trio on for Veterans Day, singing the national anthem, is something of an ideal pairing.

"It's such an important day, and we need to celebrate and really say 'thank you' to our servicemen and women, past and present," said singer Hillary Scott, who noted that some of the familiar lines in "The Star-Spangled Banner" really took on fresh meaning as she and fellow band members Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood sang them in front of saluting men and women in uniform.

"It was really emotional," she said. "I just lost it."

But the band weren't just visiting for the holiday; their album "Golden" is packed full of great new music, and they shared several songs including the title track, "Downtown," and their classic hit "Need You Now."

There was also other news to share: Namely that Scott (who is married to fellow musician Chris Tyrrell) has a 4-month-old baby — and that she'll be coming on the road when the band goes on tour in January.

"She'll have her own family bus," said Kelley. "For the first time, we'll be on separate buses."

"Go from the smell of booze to diapers," laughed Scott, who added what a "beautiful surprise" her daughter Eisele has been.

"I can't imagine life without her," she said.
